**Planned servicing • Preventive maintenance • Practical engineering**

Precision Machine Industries provides planned machine maintenance and CNC servicing across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Based in Craigavon, we help woodworking, metalworking and industrial businesses look after their machinery, identify developing problems and plan maintenance around production.

From routine servicing to concerns about wear, lubrication or recurring stoppages, PMI combines mechanical, electrical and controls knowledge to focus on the work your equipment needs.

## Planned preventive maintenance that supports your production

Planned preventative maintenance \(PPM\) helps you stay ahead of avoidable disruption and make informed decisions about your machinery.

PMI builds maintenance around the machine’s manufacturer guidance, operating pattern, condition and service history. This gives you a practical basis for addressing wear, reviewing repeated concerns and prioritising future work.

Whether you need a service for one CNC machine or want to plan maintenance across several machines, we work with your available downtime and production priorities.

## What can a maintenance visit cover?

Maintenance is tailored to the installed equipment. Depending on the machine and agreed scope, the work can include the following areas.

### Lubrication and mechanical condition

Checks of automatic lubrication systems, lubricant delivery, pipework and relevant lubrication points, together with the condition of moving assemblies.

CNC maintenance can also include examining linear guides, ballscrews, rack and pinion drives, belts and couplings for signs of wear or play.

### Electrical cabinets, cooling and controls

Attention to cabinet condition, cooling fans, filters, wiring and relevant electrical components, alongside a review of recurring PLC, servo drive or temperature alarms.

Persistent control or communication faults can be investigated through PMI’s [industrial automation support](https://precisionmachineindustries.com/services/industrial-automation/).

### Pneumatics, sensors and tool changing

Checks of air preparation, pneumatic hoses, leaks, sensors and actuated mechanisms.

On suitable CNC equipment, the service scope can also address tool changing and clamping functions, including sticking mechanisms or inconsistent operation.

### Vacuum systems and workpiece holding

For CNC routers and nesting machines, weak vacuum or unreliable workpiece holding deserves attention during maintenance planning.

PMI also provides [vacuum pump servicing, repair and overhaul](https://precisionmachineindustries.com/services/vacuum-pump-service-repair/), drawing on practical Busch and Becker experience.

## Tell us about changes in machine performance

Your operators’ observations are valuable when planning maintenance. Mention issues such as:

- A CNC machine losing accuracy or repeatability.
- Unusual axis noise, rough movement or excessive play.
- Lubrication warnings or repeated low air pressure alarms.
- A tool changer that sticks or fails to complete its cycle.
- A machine, control cabinet or drive running hotter than usual.
- Reduced vacuum, poor workpiece holding or a change in pump noise.

Sharing these details helps us plan the service and allow for any fault finding.

For an existing breakdown or a fault that needs investigating now, contact PMI about [CNC service and repair](https://precisionmachineindustries.com/services/cnc-service-repair/).

## Practical CNC and HOMAG machinery experience

PMI’s independent engineering experience includes [HOMAG woodworking machinery](https://precisionmachineindustries.com/brands/homag/), together with work on Beckhoff, Bosch Rexroth/IndraDrive and Inovance equipment.

That combination of machinery, controls and motion\-control knowledge is valuable when a maintenance concern involves several systems, such as an intermittent tool\-change problem or deteriorating axis performance.

We consider the machine as a working system and use the findings to help you prioritise maintenance, repairs and future improvements.

## Clear priorities for the next stage

Maintenance is also an opportunity to understand what your machinery needs next. We discuss the findings and help you identify what needs immediate attention, what can be scheduled and which improvements deserve longer\-term consideration.

If an ageing control or difficult\-to\-source component is becoming a recurring concern, PMI can assess [CNC retrofits and control upgrades](https://precisionmachineindustries.com/cnc-machine-retrofits/) as part of a wider plan for the equipment.

## Machine maintenance questions

### How often should a CNC machine be serviced?

Service intervals should follow the manufacturer’s requirements and account for operating hours, workload, environment and condition. Different maintenance tasks can have different intervals. PMI can help plan servicing around your machine’s requirements and the production time available.

### Can you plan maintenance around a factory shutdown?

Yes. Tell us your proposed shutdown or servicing window, which machines need attention and any restrictions on stopping connected equipment. We can then agree priorities, access and timing for the work.

### Can you assess machinery with an incomplete maintenance history?

Send the machine make, model, age and any records or known concerns you have. The machine’s present condition and available manufacturer information provide a starting point for assessing what maintenance is needed.

### Can recurring faults be investigated during maintenance?

Yes. Describe the symptoms when you enquire so diagnostic work can be considered in the visit plan. Include alarm messages, when the problem happens and any recent changes to the machine.

## Plan your next machine service

Tell PMI which machines need attention, where they are located and when you would like the work carried out. Include the last known service, any recurring concerns and your preferred downtime window.

We’ll review the equipment and agree a practical maintenance scope and quotation.
