WOODWORKING MACHINERY ENGINEERING

HOMAG machine service and repair

When a CNC stops mid-cycle, a drilling machine will not initialise or a storage system fails to feed the next board, production quickly backs up.

PMI provides HOMAG machine service, fault diagnosis and maintenance across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. We combine practical woodworking machinery experience with PLC, drive and automation expertise to investigate faults, restore machine operation and support reliable production.

Engineering that follows the board through production

Our HOMAG experience covers CNC machining centres, nesting machines, through-feed drilling, beam saws and STORETEQ storage and handling systems.

That understanding matters when the problem crosses machine boundaries: a saw waiting for material, a CNC waiting for an infeed release or a store waiting for confirmation that a board transfer has finished.

We examine the machinery and the signals exchanged between it, including sensors, drives, pneumatics, vacuum and the sequence controlled by the PLC.

For manufacturers running connected equipment, identifying the condition holding up the process is an essential part of getting production moving again.

Resolve the faults that hold up a shift

Start-up, referencing and machine readiness

We investigate machines that fail to complete start-up, axes that will not reference, missing ready signals and recurring alarms. The investigation follows the operating sequence and the conditions needed for the next movement.

Machining, tooling and workholding

Tool-change interruptions, spindle-ready faults, positioning errors and inconsistent drilling can involve several interacting systems. We assess the relevant control signals, axis behaviour and mechanical condition.

On nesting equipment, vacuum loss and workpiece-holding problems also need investigation in the context of the table, material and vacuum system.

Feeding and automatic material handling

A panel that will not advance or a STORETEQ system that stops during transfer can disrupt every machine downstream. We trace position feedback, handling sequences and machine-to-machine handshakes to establish where the expected confirmation is missing.

Keep a reliable machine earning its place on the floor

Planned maintenance brings known faults, wear and recurring interruptions into a structured service visit. We discuss the machine’s duty, service history and available downtime to identify useful checks and practical priorities.

PMI also supports HOMAG installation and relocation projects.

Second-hand machinery needs consideration of its new location, utilities and operating configuration, particularly where a saw, CNC or storage system was previously connected to different equipment.

Our machine-move service includes agreed decommissioning, dismantling and removal work. Crane/HIAB services, haulage and electrical disconnection are subcontracted where required.

HOMAG service questions

My HOMAG runs in manual but stops in automatic. Can you investigate?

Yes. Automatic operation depends on a sequence of conditions and confirmations that may differ from manual operation. We investigate the point where the cycle stops, the active alarms and relevant machine signals to establish what is preventing progression.

Can you help with an older or relocated HOMAG machine?

Yes. Send the machine type, serial number, control details and a description of its current configuration. Our experience includes older installations, and we assess maintenance, fault finding and recommissioning around the equipment actually installed.

What should I send for a HOMAG breakdown enquiry?

Include the machine identification, exact alarm text, the stage of the cycle where it stops and whether the fault is constant or intermittent. Add your site location, recent changes and clear photographs of the alarm display and machine nameplate.

Tell us what is holding up production

Whether the issue affects one CNC or a connected woodworking cell, send PMI the machine details and symptoms. We will review the requirement and agree the appropriate next step.
