Start with the number on the component
An equipment family can include different voltages, communication interfaces, feedback options and hardware revisions. The complete manufacturer number helps identify the requirement accurately.
Include:
- Manufacturer and full part number, including every suffix and option code.
- Hardware revision and firmware information where available.
- A clear photograph of the identification label and wider assembly.
- Machine manufacturer, model and the component’s function.
- Required quantity, delivery location and production urgency.
For a drive system, include the connected motor and associated control or power modules. For a PLC or I/O module, identify the controller and communications system where known.
If the label is damaged, photographs of the surrounding equipment and machine documentation may help establish what is fitted.

Choose a practical sourcing or replacement route
Investigate the original part
We use the identified component and application to investigate a sourcing route. Any proposal identifies the offered item, its condition, availability and supply terms so you can assess it against your requirement.
Assess an alternative
Where a different component is proposed, PMI reviews the relevant electrical, mechanical and control interfaces. Firmware, parameter sets, fieldbus configuration and machine software may affect the work required.
For example, replacing an EtherCAT I/O device involves checking its identity and revision against the configuration expected by the controller.
Review wider obsolescence
If several components are difficult to support, a CNC retrofit assessment may help establish a longer-term route. We can discuss that alongside the immediate part requirement.
Put the part in the context of the fault
Tell us whether the component has failed, is suspected of causing an alarm or is needed as a spare.
A drive alarm, missing I/O device or control that will not start can involve other parts of the machine. Our industrial automation support provides a route for investigating the fault when the replacement requirement is still uncertain.

Yes. Send the manufacturer number, quantity and machine details. We assess the sourcing requirement against the particular item and application.
What if the original component is no longer available?
We can discuss whether an alternative merits engineering assessment or whether a wider controls change needs consideration. The relevant interfaces and machine requirements guide that decision.
Does a replacement need the same firmware or revision?
The requirement depends on the device and installed configuration. Some revisions are compatible; others require further checks or configuration work. Include the revision and firmware information available so the proposed replacement can be assessed.
